The CASA project is developed through 7 Work Packages (WP).
The CASA project is developed through 7 Work Packages (WP).
The WP1, coordinated by CIDEA with the participation of all partners, will handle the management and integration of all project phases, promoting the coordination of scientific activities and ensuring the financial management of resources.
The WP2 involves the production of recycled polypropylene fibers functionalized with biochar and the development of surface treatments for fibers and recycled aggregates to improve adhesion characteristics with the matrix, stability, durability, and to limit the release of harmful substances.
The activities of WP3 include: selecting the most promising waste and/or by-products (both in terms of chemical composition and available quantities); recovery, treatment, and chemical-physical characterization of the various wastes investigated in the project, in collaboration with the involved companies; defining mix designs; casting the specimens for the tests planned in WP4.
In WP4 all cementitious mixtures developed in WP3 will be characterized, conducting the qualification tests for each reference product category.
In WP5, the durability of some of the new materials produced in WP3 will be evaluated for applications such as external pavements, tanks, retaining walls, and artifacts (light wells, manhole covers, channels) and structural elements.
In WP6, the applicability of the new materials will be validated through real-scale experiments. Two levels will be worked on: at the level of the structural element or non-structural component and in terms of time, referring to the entire life cycle. Two main activities will be carried out: the first related to prototype production and the second to the life cycle analysis (LCA) of the developed materials.
In WP7, the qualification, patenting, and industrial development of the most promising materials developed in CASA will be addressed, based on the results obtained from previous WPs and through close collaboration with the project’s industrial partners.
